NSN, manufactured circa 18th century, 16 gauge, with a 38 ¼” octagonal-to-round barrel. The barrel exhibits a smooth, bright grey patina with areas of mottled darker grey oxidation. It is secured with three brass barrel bands. The lock plate is an early “banana” style, unmarked and consistent with early Continental manufacture. The brass side plate features an elegant floral motif with two trumpeting angels, and the escutcheon is adorned with a seated angel figure. The stock shows light handling marks and an old, stable repair just forward of the rear ramrod pipe. Action holds correctly at both half and full cock. A fine example of early Germanic sporting arms with ornate decorative elements.
