Serial no. 6744. Manufactured in 1878, chambered in 11mm Beaumont,32" round barrel.
The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching and the metal surfaces remain in the bright, presenting very well overall. The Model 1871/78 Beaumont represents the Netherlands’ first domestically adopted bolt-action military rifle and reflects the rapid transition to metallic cartridge arms across Europe in the late 19th century. The stock is very good, showing light refurbishment with a handsome cartouche still clearly visible. Overall this is a very attractive and well-preserved example of an early European bolt-action service rifle.
