Previously sold
Serial no. 9500. Manufactured in 1878, chambered in 11mm Beaumont,32" round barrel.
The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching. The metal surfaces have aged to a light grey patina with scattered areas of surface oxidation consistent with age and service use. The Model 1871/78 Beaumont was among the earliest European military bolt-action rifles adopted for general service and represents the Netherlands’ transition to metallic cartridge arms in the late 19th century. The stock shows expected handling impressions with a sharp cartouche still clearly visible. Overall the rifle presents as a solid and honest example of this early Dutch service rifle.
