Serial number 97075. Made in 1883. 44-40 Caliber with a 4.75” barrel. This gun has an even brown to gray patina throughout. The barrel was shortened and was most likely a 7.5” barrel. The grips are old to the period two piece pearls with silver escutcheons. The back strap is engraved “Kid Rogers Texas Rangers” in period script. Kid Rogers was a Lieutenant in the Texas Rangers from 1888-1901. He was born in 1869 and passed away due to complications of surgery in 1901. He acquired the nickname “Kid” while serving with his older Brother J. H. Rogers. He retired from the rangers in 1901 to manage a ranch. He died later that year.
