Serial No, 31077, circa 1863-1864, .52 caliber, 20” round barrel. Metal is a smooth light grey patina with scattered areas oxidation. Serial numbers are matching on breech, barrel and receiver. Lock plate is marked with “Gwyn & Campbell/PATENT/1862/HAMILTON. O.” Frame is marked “UNION/RIFLE” Stock is in very good condition with light pressure points noted on the right side. The number “77” is stamped on the barrel and receiver, we know quite a few Union cavalry units were issued these carbines. Action is strong and holds at half and full cock.
