NSN. Made circa 1840. 69 smooth bore with a 40.5” barrel. This gun has been converted to percussion and also converted to a shotgun barrel with the barrel slightly shortened. The stock has German silver inlays with a patriotic eagle on the right hand side of the stock and a Angel playing a trumpet on the left hand side of the stock. There are also numerous stars throughout stock. The top of the barrel has also been engraved as well as the triggerguard. This is not uncommon to see on Civil War muskets and it also seems a lot of them decorated this way are also shortened. Very decorative Civil War gun!
