Serial No. H7842, made circa 1895-1896, 7x57mm 29 ½” round barrel. This rifle is a prime example of the Mauser Model 1895 contract rifles produced by Ludwig Loewe & Co. in Berlin for the Chilean military. Chambered in 7x57mm, the rifle retains all matching serial numbers, including the cleaning rod. The receiver’s factory markings remain crisp and well-defined, showcasing the classic “CHILE” crest and Loewe manufacturing legend. The walnut stock is in very good condition with light handling impressions throughout, and a well-struck Chilean military cartouche is noted on the right side. These rifles were built with the small-ring Mauser receiver, straight bolt handle, and feature the characteristic long-range tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The metal finish has thinned slightly with age but remains uniform and attractive. The action is smooth and functions correctly. A strong example of a South American contract Mauser rifle
