Beautiful High Relief Embellished Flintlock Horse Pistol by Antoine Prion (71129) Consignment 

NSN. Made Circa 1730. 62 caliber with a 12.5” barrel. Overall gun length is approximately 20” This is a masterful work of art by Antoine Prion. Prion was a Belgium gunsmith known for making very fine guns, however in our research, this gun appears to be the finest we have found. The stock is nicely carved and in very fine condition. The true beauty in this gun is the metal work on the trigger guard, side plate, butt cap, lock and barrel. Each is finely chiseled with flowing rococo scrolls. The butt cap features a finely sculpted grotesque Mask. Each piece features what looks like Italian soldiers and the entire motif looks to be heavily Italian influenced. There is an escutcheon featuring a noble crest on the on the rear portion of the grip. All of the metal work has gold overlay. This is truly an exception piece!
