Serial No. A2418, manufactured in 1891, chambered in 7.65×53mm with a 29” round barrel. The bore is bright with strong rifling noted. Serial numbers are matching except for the bolt sleeve; the bolt itself is unmarked. The rifle was refurbished at some point, and the Argentine national crest has been removed from the receiver. Most Model 1891 Argentine Mauser rifles encountered on the surplus market exhibit this “scrubbed” crest, largely due to Argentine export laws governing military arms. Additional examples lost their crests during the Chaco War (1932–1935) for purposes of plausible deniability, and some rifles originally intended for Argentina were diverted to Spain in the 1980s for use in North Africa. Overall condition remains very good, and the action is smooth and functions correctly.
