NSN, circa 1730-1750, approximately .75 caliber bore, 41" octagonal to round barrel. Lock marked “Cranmer”. We could find only one Cranmer (Samuel of S. Cranmer & Co. Market Hill Woodbridge Suffolk 1887-1894). As this is a fowler originally made approximately 1730-1750, in our opinion, the later lock would still not be late enough to have been made by Samuel Cranmer. Possibly converted by an earlier family member not listed in our research materials. Stock is very good with no chips or cracks. There is a very well carved shell pattern around the breech plug tang. The trigger guard finial is very well done in a panoply of arms, cannons, banners, trumpet and helmet. The barrel keys are accented by silver escutcheons. (DALLAS LOCATION)
