U.S. Springfield 1866 Trapdoor 2nd Allin Conversion .50-70 caliber rifle. These rifles were made from left over Civil War muskets. Metal has a dark gray patina. Lock plate is dated 1864. Stock is good, shows handling and storage wear. Cartouche is present on the left side of stock. Bore is good and shows pitting in areas. Rifles were most notably used in the Hayfields and Wagon Box fights in 1867.
