Unique India Pattern Type 2 Brown Bess “New York” Marked. Barrel is 42”. Metal has light gray patina. Lock plate is marked “Tower” and forward of hammer has crown. Stock has been lightly sanded and varnished at some point. Stock has “NY” stamp. These muskets were used extensively by the British during the War of 1812. It is our opinion that this Brown Bess was picked up and used by the New York militia! Correct transitional looking Brown Bess with New York militia history!
