Serial No. 8197, made in 1895, .30-40 Krag, 30” round barrel. Bore is bright with light frosting noted, rifling remains strong. Barrel’s original finish has thinned to a smooth grey patina, right sight is the model 1896. Left side of the receiver is stamped “U.S./1894-SPRINGFIELD ARMORY-8197” Stock has had its cleaning rod channel filled; this was done at the factory. Light handling wear is visible with a small crack located near the magazine cut off. Action is extremely smooth and functions correctly.
