Serial No. 8884, circa 1874-1880, .38CF,Rare 4" round barrel with "Colt New 38" etched on the left side. Barrel retains approximately 95% original high gloss blue finish with light surface scuffs visible. Frame and cylinder have started to thin to a grey patina with traces of case coloring noted in protected areas. Serial numbers match on the inside grip strap and barrel. Bore is very good with handsome rifling visible. Varnished rose wood grips have light surface scratches and wear, no cracks or chips are noted. Action indexes correctly with a tight lock up.
