Serial No. 362987, made in 1887, .45-70, 22" round proofed barrel. Bore is bright with scattered areas of pitting and frosting visible in the grooves, rifling remains strong. Barrel and other metal parts have turned to a brown/grey patina. Breech block is marked "US/MODEL/1884", Serial number is marked rear of the breach. Butt plate is marked "31/US/31/9G/31" This stamping means it was the 31st gun for the 9th Cavalry Company G! Stock has expected nicks, dings and scratches, action functions correctly. The 9th Cavalry saw action during the indian wars participating in campaigns against the Comanche, Utes, Sioux, and Apaches.
