Serial No. 6097387, circa 1954-1958, .30-06, 24" round barrel marked " NM-Star" The star was used to document that the rifle had been subject to the stricter test from 5 shots to 10 shot groups in test firing. Barrel is marked "T-SA-F6535448-5-56-A227B" with "p and "m" proof marks next to DOD acceptance stamp. Bore is bright and shiny with handsome rifling visible. Bolt is marked "6528287-SA/Y02". Oxidation is visible on the edges and under the receiver. Stock shows light handling and usage marks, with DOD Eagle and three star cartouche present, serif "P" is stamped inside pistol grip. Action is smooth and functions correctly. Great Example of an early NM Garand. Consignment.
