Serial 234. Made in 1874. 45 LC caliber with a 7 ½” barrel. Very  early Ainsworth inspected US Martial Single Action. This gun has a mottled gray patina with scattered light pitting throughout. There are several areas of minor restoration. This gun comes with a Colt factory letter as well as a hand written account of the provenance of this gun. It is also accompanied by a letter from noted collector and Colt Single Action expert Dick Burdick. This gun was found by Mr. Ernie Alloy of Tucson, Az in December of 1960. This gun was discovered buried in an Apache Burial ground located in the Rincon Mountains in Arizona. This location was approximately 10 miles from Fort Lowell.  The 6th Cavalry was stationed at Fort Lowell and was one of the first recipients of early martial Colt Single Action armies. This gun was apparently captured by Apache Indians and buried with the deceased Indian in case he needed it in the hereafter. Very neat Historical Colt Single Action Army!
