Made in 1852, .69 caliber, 42" round barrel. Barrel and lock plate are a blued finish with scattered surface oxidation visible. Barrel is marked "P/V/PALM TREE" with inspector initials "W.G.& Co.". Lock plate is stamped with "Palmetto tree encircled by Palmetto Armory S*C" Rear of the hammer is marked "Columbus /S.C./1852". Butt plate is marked "S.C.". Stock is very good with light handling marks visible. Action holds at half and full cock. The Model 42 is considered the Confederates secondary Infantry rifle used during the Civil War.
