Made in 1846 by N.P. Ames Co. Cabotville, Mass. Curved blade is 35.25" in length with 25.75" fuller. Blade has a dark brown/grey patina with minor nicks noted along the edge. Ricasso is marked "US/JCR" opposite side marked "N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1845". Hilt is a single brass knuckle guard ending to a rounded quillion. Wooden grip has a crack from the guard to the Phrygian pommel. Sword could have possibly used during the Mexican American War.
