Rare U.S. Martial Colt 1st Model Richards Conversion Revolver. Made in 1870s. This is one of the U.S. marked military issued contract. This contract was for 800 guns, but they do not pop up very often. Most of these were issued to Buffalo soldiers. This gun is in by far better condition than one normally finds. Very good original blue remains on the barrel. Excellent cylinder scene remains. This gun still has the U.S. on the left hand side of the barrel. These guns were sold to either Bannerman’s or Stokes Kirk and the U.S. was removed. This gun still has the full U.S. marking meaning it did not make it to that sale. Small parts have individual inspector’s marks, including an Ainsworth inspected trigger guard. Left hand side of the grip still has a visible, though worn cartouche. Very fine rare gun in well above average condition!
