Doherty, XIIIth Lt Drg The gift of W. Preston. Esqre” Lieutenant Colonel Doherty served in the Crimean war. He participated in many battles and was even wounded. He finished out the entire Crimean Campaign. William Preston Esquire was Secretary of the Navy in 1850 and retired in the Bahamas. This gun comes with two giant binders regarding both men and their service. It also has a letter from noted dealer and collector Arnold Marcus Chernoff.
