This interesting and historical Mexican 7mm Mauser caliber Model 1895 Mauser carbine has a chamber date of 1897. It shows evidence, including a bullet hole in the butt, of being heavily used during rhe Mexican revolution. The 18" barrel has a poor dark bore with some areas of visible rifling. All the metal has a smooth brown patina. The chamber has the Mexican crest dated 1897. The left side of the receiver is marked DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN over BERLIN. As is usual, the bolt is not matching. The stock is heavily used. In addition to issue dents, dings, and wear, the left and right wrist have holes where the rear swivel was removed. There is also an old age crack at the wrist. The front band has been replaced by a string tie. On the right butt 3.5" forward of the butt plate and 1.25" below the comb is a bullet hole that measures approx. 7mm. The exit on the left tapers out to approx. 1.25" of missing wood. The exit hole is well worn showing that this gun continued in use after the bullet strike. The action functions correctly. If only this survivor of the Mexican revolution could talk!
