With its all brass frame and BARREL, the 32 centerfire caliber Spencer Safety Hammerless revolver is an American firearms oddity. A few thousand were made by Otis A. Smith, Rockfall, CT, circa the 1890s.  In addition, this revolver is unusual in that the barrel top rib is marked MALTBY, HENLEY (EY are dented) & CO, NEW YORK. U.S.A. over PAT. JAN. 24. 1888 & OCT. 29. 1889. Maltby, Henley & Co. were Smith's New York agents. The 3 3/16" brass barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling. The cylinder. trigger, and internal parts are the only iron parts. This revolver also features a thumbwheel safety on the top rear of the frame. The safety operates but is very stiff and the revolver may have to be disassembled to reset it. The grips are very good with the left having a solid repair at the top. The action functions correctly. If you are ito early and unusual American cartridge revolvers, this one by Otis Smith is a must.
