Circa 1740. 65 caliber with a 5 ½” barrel with a 12” overall length. The metal has been cleaned. Below the frizzen and pan on the frame is marked “Wilson London”. There is engraving on the trigger guard and the top of the barrel. Wood is very good. The butt cap, the side plate, behind the tang and behind the lock are decorated with a panoply of silver military designs. This gun is pictured in Battle Weapons of the American Revolution by George Neumann on page 241. This gun is listed as being from the author’s collection. George Neumann has been on of the preeminent authorities of guns, swords and accoutrements relating the American Revolutionary War. Having a gun from his collection and pictured in one of is books makes this a very desirable piece!
