This London-proofed flintlock dueling pistol was made by Richardson circa 1810. There are eight Richardsons listed as British gunmakers so we are unable to further identify which Richardson made this one. The overall length is approx. 13.75". The 8" octagon 60 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore. The barrel has virtually all of its brown damascus style finish. It has two London proofs on the left flat. The lock is marked RICHARDSON on the bottom center. It has a roller frizzen and S type cock which has a repaired hairline crack that appears to be stable. The iron trigger guard has a pineapple finial and is engraved on the finial and bow. The ramrod is present. The stock is very good with flat-sided Wogdon style grips, light wear, and a stable age crack at the rear of the lock. The action functions correctly. This very nice Richardson dueling pistol would fit a dueling pistol or English flintlock pistol collection.
