Beautiful 1860 Staff & Field Presentation Sword to Surgeon General of Connecticut (SW1304)

Beautiful 1860 Staff & Field Presentation sword to the Surgeon General of Connecticut, Brigadier General Frances Calef Middleton. Blade is excellent with acid etching in patriotic themes on both sides. Ricasso is marked “B. Dabock & Co / New York” with the other side marked “Made in France” The hilt is cased gilded brass in patriotic themes. The grip is cast nickel plated brass. The Guard has the presentation engraved with “Brigadier General/ J. Frances Calef Middleton/ Surgeon General of Connecticut From January 4th 1899/ to” The presentation is incomplete as it does not have the date of retirement from the Surgeon General’s position.  Scabbard is nickel plated with double sided relief cast gilded brass mounts.
