We have performed a chamber cast and found that 9.5X47R to be the most likely caliber. As was the usual fashion, a great many German rifles wore not marked on the barrel as to the caliber, to the consternation of modern shooters. The octagonal barrel is 27" and has 98% of it's original finish. Overall length is 45". Barrel has an adjustable rear sight and the front sight is a very fine post with bead. The receiver is beautifully case colored and engraved in a floral and tendril motif, which is carried out on the trigger guard and finial. The case colored butt plate is likewise engraved. The rifle has adjustable set triggers. The stock is very good plus and the forend terminates in a fluted shell pattern schnable. The upper tang is fitted for a Schutzen post with diopter. The butt stock has a presentation plaque and wan an award of first prize. Plaque reads "1 Pris 1890 Kongl Kronbergs Reg tes Skjutforbund". Overall very well made rifle.
