Swiss Military Peabody Rifle (AL5352)

This Swiss 1867 military Peabody rifle was made by the Providence Tool Company, Providence, RI. The round approx. 32.75" round 41 Swiss rimfire caliber barrel has a fine bore with bright, strong rifling with just al little frosting in the grooves near the muzzle. The gun has an overall smooth brown patina. The barrel, forearm, and buttstock are numbered 13882. The action has the standard Peabody markings. The stocks are good with multiple issue dents and dings and some wood loss along the ramrod channel. The front swivel and the rear swivel fitting without the swivel are present. The correct cleaning rod is present. The action functions correctly. The Providence Tool Company sold about 15,000 to the Swiss in serial number range 5500 to 21000. The majority have remained in Europe. If you collect Swiss or European military rifles, this would be a good addition to your collection.
