British New Land Pattern Flintlock Pistol. Has belt hook and captive ramrod. Lock is marked Tower and Crown Jr. Barrel has the Liege proof mark and letters PB near the Liege proof and PB on the trigger guard finial and the brass side plate. Note: The lock also has a small Crown JR above the larger Crown JR on the lock plate. Stock has no markings. Stock has a chip out of the front lower part at the lock plate bar. In his book, British Military Pistols, Robert Brooker devotes a chapter for foreign copies of British guns that were made for sale to India and nearby countries and provinces. This is most likely a British copy made in Belgium for the sale to other countries. Overall, this is a very good condition pistol.
